FINDING BEAUTY
WELCOME!
15 May 2025
Welcome to our brand new blog. I’m so glad you’re here!
I’ve been passionate about design for as long as I can remember. For me it’s all about creating an environment where my clients can live the lifestyle that brings them joy. I love beauty, but beauty alone isn’t enough. My mission in each and every project is to hit that sweet spot where beauty and function are in perfect balance - working toward and achieving that harmony is truly what fills me up.
Over the last 25 years, I’ve steadily added tools to my toolkit – processes, insights and tricks of the trade that allow me to approach any project with confidence. It’s my hope that through this blog, I can share some of those insights with you. Designing a home is truly a journey – a journey that is personal, meaningful, inspiring…and yes, it can be stressful! It’s our job as interior designers to lead our clients through that journey, forming relationships and trust, listening and learning, and then leaning into our experience to curate the options and choices that empower our clients to feel comfortable and confident in the choices we make together as a team.

So where does it all start?
I mean it when I say that it begins and ends with relationships, so we always, always bring our best selves to the table. I’m a firm believer that if the process of creating your home doesn’t bring you joy, then we are all doing something wrong.
My secrets to creating a design process filled with joy?
First and foremost – My team and I start by taking the time to invest in the client relationship – getting to know one another not just as client and designer, but as people who truly care about and trust each other. Believe me, it pays off, every single time.
Second – As a designer, I listen, listen, listen, not only with my ears but with my heart. I believe to my core that interior design is a service business. “We are with you” is one of my favorite phrases – I use it often, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart.

Third – I’ve learned through the years the importance of surrounding myself with my people – people I can count on and trust to bring their best offering to the work. Creating a home is a team effort – we need to be able to count on one another, and our clients need to feel safe with us.
Fourth – Curiosity is key! The beauty of building trust is that everyone on the team – client, owner's reps, designers, architects, contractors, suppliers – collectively gain the confidence to be more creative. We constantly feed that creativity with new input - and honestly, what is more fun than discovering new materials, new makers, new technologies?

Fifth – Revel in the details! I am truly a detail fanatic. Ask anyone who knows me, they’ll tell you. Details matter – they take good design and elevate it to great design. It’s in the details that we can really drill down into the personal touches that make a home uniquely suited to the people who will call it home – intentionally placed shelving for a prized collection, hidden storage just where it’s needed most, a perfectly organized pantry for an avid at-home chef, a special wall lit for a gallery of family photos, carefully designed trim details that pull it all together…

Here are a few upcoming posts I’ve got tucked up my sleeve…designing a home for gathering, how to create a perfectly–programmed kitchen, tips for seamlessly integrating family history and memories into a refreshed design, the secrets to creating the perfect home office, and answers to the question I hear ALL the time – how high do I hang that?!
My hope is, you'll find this a lovely pause in your day and if you would like to connect directly...you can do that here.
Until we meet again, encouraging you to take the time to find beauty of your own.
With you,
Paulina
